What We Do

In essence, our name says it all. We dedicate our time and effort to rescuing & re-homing Great Dane Dogs. We are also available to give advice on the breed. We've been running as a registered charity since 2000 but have been doing this since the early 90's and have no intention of giving it up..! Not just yet anyway!

!n 2008 we updated our policy so that all adult dogs are now neutered, wherever possible, before being re-homed and all potential new owners are vetted to include regular home visits. Please look at our ADOPT page for current danes needing their forever homes

With so many dogs coming through the rescue centre, we always have major bills to pay. If you'd like to support the work we do here at Great Dane Care, we, the committee, our small but dedicated group of volunteers and more importantly, the rescue dogs, will really feel the benefit of your support & generosity. Thank You.

Please check our ADOPT page which is updated regularly

2017 We have recently had to say  a sad farewell to two very special friends of GDC and highly respected Judges in the Dane world.

Charles (Charlie) Brookes a true gentle man who, together with Rosemary Lord, adored their Hecklehaze Danes. A truly selfless dear man who will be greatly missed.

Susan (Sue) Cottrell, wife of David and mother to Jane and the late Helen, have been supporters of Great Dane Care rescue and previously the South Western Great Dane Club rescue. A lovely lady , her smile and interest  will be sadly missed. We send our condolences to her husband and family and thank them sincerely for their support. Her funeral service will take place at Taunton Deane Crematorium, Wellington New Road,TA1 5NE, on Monday 21st August 2017 at 3pm and afterwards at Oake Manor Golf Club,TA4 1BA.
